Janet has been a registered nurse for over 30 years and has worked primarily in the areas of community health and both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric nursing with experience in mental health and chemical dependency. She then went on to become a nurse practitioner. She has always been interested in patient education and counseling and since retiring from active practice, she has turned her attention to writing and volunteer work.
It was as part of her own recovery from sexual abuse, that she began writing about sexual abuse. While working in an adolescent psychiatric unit with teen survivors she found that there were no really great resources available for them. She decided to create a book suitable for teens and adults in a simple easy-to-use workbook format. Since retirement, she has completely revised and expanded the book into its current form and has made it available to help other survivors.
